Celebrate Canada Day in Burnaby & Surrounding Tri-Cities

canadadayCanadian’s sure know how to have pride in their country, on any given Canada Day you are swimming in a sea of red shirts, face paints, head bands and maple leafs  – there’s no shortage of fun activities to partake in around Canada Day either, I’ve rounded up some in the Tri-Cities, Burnaby and New Westminster though the festivities don’t stop there! For information on activities in your local neighborhood, check out your respective city facebook or website, and make sure to plan for a fun filled, sunny day with a picnic lunch, lots of sunscreen and plenty of water. It’s going to be a hot one! 

BURNABY:

Our personal favorite is Burnaby Village Museum, with endless grass and activities to enjoy you can make a fun day out of learning a bit about the history of Canada, enjoy vintage shops and streets and enjoy Burnaby’s Official Canada Day celebration!

Time: 11:00am – 4:30 pm
Location: Burnaby Village Museum
Activities: Game Booths,  Face Painting, Vintage Cars, Musicians, displays, demonstrations, giant canada cake carousel rides ($2.55 each)

Another favorite is Brentwood Park Alliance Church, a local favorite in the heights for Canada Day activities. Stop in and enjoy free bouncy castles, door prizes, kids activities and live music. Oh, and stay for the cake!

Time: 11:00am-4:00pm
Location: Brentwood Park Alliance Church – 1410 Delta Avenue, Burnaby
Activities: Hot dogs & drinks by donation, giveaways and free prize draws, popcorn and cotton candy, shaved ice vendor, inflatable games, free bouncy canstle and free games & activities

Coquitlam

Time: 12 pm – 10:30 pm
Location: Town Centre Park
Activities: Live music & entertainment, food vendors, adventure zone – including hot air balloon rides, a cultural village with artisans and hands on arts activities. Don’t forget to stay for the fireworks at 10:00pm!

Port Coquitlam

Time:  8:00am-11:00am
Location:  Lions Park – Shaughnessy Street & Lions Park

Lions Club Pancake Breakfast – Enjoy a great start to Canada Day with a delicious breakfast served by the local Lions Club. $5 for adults, $3 for children under 10yrs.

14th Annual Fishing Derby – Children under 10 get to fish in the Coquitlam River at this fun annual event. Bring your rods and enter prize draws. Free admission and sure to keep the littles laughing as they wrangle fish.

Time: 12:00pm – dusk
Location: Castle Park – Castle Crescent and Citadel Drive
Activities: Opening ceremoney and cake cutting, children’s activities, international bazaar, food vendors, firefighters BBQ, plus lots of evening entertainment.

Port Moody

Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: Rocky Point Park

Activities: Family oriented day of entertainment, including live music and entertainment. Cupcakes & refreshments at 1:30pm. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a beautiful Canada Day at Rocky Point Park.

New Westminster

Time: 11:30am – 3:30 pm
Location: Queen’s Park
Activities: Live entertainment, community displays, pick a box auction

Join in the fun on Canada Day at Queen’s Park from 11:30- 3:30 pm and head over to Westminster Quay for fireworks at dusk!

Time: 3 pm – dusk
Location: Westminster Quay
Activities: Face painting, balloon, twisting and lots of kids activities from 3:00pm onwards. Live bands outside PaddleWheeler pub over looking the Fraser River and fireworks at 10pm.
