Disney’s Pete’s Dragon now on Blu-Ray! #BCMOMHGG {Giveaway Closed}

This has been a magical year on the Disney front, we have been so honored to have been able to attend so many screenings for what A would call – the absolute best year ever in movies. This has also been a year of re-imagined favourites, from stories and tales I have font members of growing up with, to new imaginative favourites – Disney has truly blown our minds this year.

One of the movies on the very top of our list would have to be Pete’s Dragon, growing up having watched the original as a child I was so excited to see how they would transform this vintage favourite into a modern Disney tale and suffice to say… they did not disappoint!

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

When you see a movie like Pete’s Dragon growing up, you have a certain way of seeing the characters in your mind when you are an adult, you have fond memories that stick with you right through your childhood and to be honest – Pete’s Dragon was one of that has long since stuck with me. I was so impressed to see how the amazing team at Disney created Elliot in a way that showcased his warmness, compassion, and ultimately his fierce protectiveness – A still loves to ask me how he hides, where he sleeps, what he eats… he’s a topic that often comes up!

I had a chance to see Pete’s Dragon in theatres at a movie premiere and A loved it, make sure to head over to check out our review – she keeps asking me when we are on our nature walks if maybe, just maybe…. there is an Elliot waiting somewhere for her too.
