Lovers of Shakespeare rejoice – Bard continues Family Nights! + #Giveaway

Lovers of Shakespeare are not born, they’re made. Most people get their first introduction to Shakespeare when they start high school. If they’re lucky, they get a great English teacher who can make his great many works come alive, and help them decipher the old English dialogue to discover the witty gems inside.  But the best way to enjoy Shakespeare is to truly watch it come to life, on stage; and if you live in the Lower Mainland there’s no better place to do this than at Vanier Park in Vancouver for the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival.

A master of the English language, of poetic descriptions, the double entendre and savage insults, Shakespeare wrote numerous comedies and tragedies; many that can appeal to all ages. With this in mind, Bard on the Beach has now added special Family Night showings of Much Ado About Nothing to the schedule that are suitable for children 6+. On August 8 & 22 come enjoy a night of wit, romance scheming, and comedy, as well as face painting, origami, a theatre Talk & Tour designed specifically for younger viewers, souvenir photos and more!

Broadway Across Canada wows with Phantom Of The Opera #Review

Phantom Of The Opera - Broadway Across Canada

I consider myself very lucky, considering that I come from a very small town, to have had the chance to see Phantom of the Opera near the end of my elementary grad year. Our school’s annual Grade 8 trip was to Toronto every year, and every year Phantom was on the itinerary. We all packed one dressy outfit for this occasion, and I remember being in awe when I walked into (what was then) The Pantages Theatre. The whole experience was pretty incredible, and being my first experience with live theatre, The Phantom of the Opera really set the bar high in my mind. The musical score haunted me for weeks. Many of us, myself included, bought soundtracks at the merch booth, and even now, more than 20 years later, I still catch myself singing snippets of songs.

Disney’s Cars 3 vrooms into theatres with action packed fun! #Review

Buckle up Cars fans, because Cars 3 is in theatres now and it’s one wild ride! All your favourite original characters return for the latest installment in the Cars series, and many new ones are introduced, including several new rookies that make Lightning McQueen question if he still has what it takes to be a Piston Cup racer. Can he keep up with all the new tech? Is it time to retire? Or maybe follow a new career path? Has he lost his mojo?

Lightning McQueen is a world-champion racer who’s riding high with five Piston-Cup wins under his hood. Suddenly, he finds himself faced with a new generation of racers who threaten not only his dominance in the sport—but the confidence that got him there. Determined to get back into the pole position, #95 must decide if his love for racing is enough to fuel the comeback of his life.

SIMULATED SPEED — Tech-savvy trainer Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo) is armed with cutting-edge tools—like a racing simulator—to help turn racers-in-training into champions. But Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) isn’t a fan of Cruz’s high-tech techniques and decides instead to return to his roots—bringing his skeptical trainer along for the ride. Disney•Pixar’s “Cars 3” opens in U.S. theaters on June 16, 2017. ©2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

On a road trip to find some help and inspiration with his new tech savvy trainer Cruz Ramirez, McQueen finds much more than he bargained for, some unlikely friends, and life changing experiences.

My little Cars fan had been counting down sleeps until the movie premiere and his first meeting with Jackson Storm, next generation racer. He watched the trailers over and over again, and he had to know: is he a bad guy? a cheater maybe? an arrogant rookie? or just misunderstood?

I’m happy to say our entire family loved the movie, and all our questions were answered, though no spoilers here! We love all of the many puns and plays on words that fill these movies, and were especially touched by some of the flashbacks.

If you have a need for speed and are a Disney Cars fan, hurry down to theatres soon, because it won’t last long.

Boogity, boogity, boogity, let’s go racing boys!

{A big thank you to Disney Studios Canada for inviting our family to the screening of Cars 3 – all opinions and crazy car collections are our own}

Keeping track of my LIFE (aka, my phone) with Tile + #Giveaway!

Tile Square

As a mom, regardless of how hard I try to stay organized and on top of life things will inevitably slip my mind. Usually, it’s things like not realizing it’s hot lunch day until I’ve already packed lunch that morning. Or forgetting that I left a cheese string in my purse for a few days.

The fact is, as a society nowadays we are pretty bombarded with a million things to remember pretty regularly. I’m pretty surprised most days that I can make it out of the house every everyone in tow! Most recently though.. we had a bit of a situation that I desperately wish we had this neat little device around for…Introducing, the Tile. Continue reading →
