Chimp and Science World Invite Families to Explore the Science of Giving on Family Day
“The Science of Giving”
Join us on February 9, 2015 and celebrate Family Day with Science World and Chimp as they welcome families to explore how they change the world with charitable giving. We’re excited to partner for with this event and offer an exciting VIP package for a family of 4! More details below.
This one-day special event, powered by Chimp, gives parents and children the opportunity to explore causes they care about, participate in a fun charitable scavenger hunt, leave a meaningful mark on the world and learn how to make charitable giving part of everyday living.
“Every parent wants to raise kind, caring and generous kids,” said Chimp CEO John Bromley. “By getting kids involved in charitable giving, we can teach them that they can make the world better with their actions.”
Entry to the event is by donation, and all proceeds raised on Family Day will be doubled (up to $25,000), and will support Wonder – Science World’s new early learner’s gallery – a space designed to nurture the imaginations and curiosities of their youngest learners, infants to kindergarten-aged children. How exciting is that? I can’t wait to take Alivia to explore Wonder!
“Family Day is a celebration of families and family life. We want Science World to play a major role in the celebrations—the place families come to yearly to have fun and share the excitement of science with each other,” said Bryan Tisdall, President and CEO of Science World. “We hope you will join us on February 9 to experience science in a fun and inspiring environment with your whole family. All science begins with Wonder—come cultivate your curiosity and spark your love of science this Family Day and for many Family Days to come.”

When I was about 7 they were doing a fun sciencey “game show” thing and I got picked to be a contestant. It was SO cool, they were broadcasting it on tvs throughout the centre, so I felt really special and important. I ended up winning first place and they gave me a certificate saying so…I still have it somewhere!
When I was in elementary school I remember going and loving it when someone would put their hand on the static electricity ball and their hair would stand up. But now my favourite memories are taking my kids there. It takes us at least 20 minutes to go in the door because my boys are fascinated by the exhibit outside with the balls and track/lever system thing. Love watching how excited they get seeing each exhibit.
my fave memory is sleeping over there when i was a brownie
Favorite past time is stomping on the floor piano.
I remember a few years back taking my 3.5 year old to science world. He plays with the magnetic gears for almost 2 hours. Never seen him be that focused on a task. Almost brought me to tears the other day thinking about it knowing now that he has ADHD.
I remember being a kid at Expo 86 and seeing the “Giant Golf Ball” for the first time! During my school years I enjoyed going on field trips there, (the static ball!) and now go with my kids on their field trips! Our family made a special trip once to see the Lego exhibit 🙂 We are looking forward to going on Family Day!
I remember going on school field trips and what a fun outing they were!
I have find memories of going to Science World as a kid and loved checking out the beaver lodge. We took our two boys this past fall and it was so much fun for me to watch them get to explore the beaver lodge as well as the rest of Science World and would love a chance to get to take them back again!
My favourite memory was during the 2010 olympics when Science World was Sochi House and had some pretty cool attractions to see.
I loved science world cause everything is touchable and watching the films are better then any movie screen you’ll find. You feel apart of it.
I have 4 boys and when science world had the Lego exibat we spent 3 hours there just playing Lego. The boys were amazing by the elaborate builds they displayed.
My favorite memory was taking my daughter for the first time, she was 1 1/2 and it was Easter weekend and she was wearing bunny ears and we took a picture of her sitting on the big wood frog. We have tried every Easter (but we have missed a few) to go back and recreate that image. It’s still her favorite place.
Expo 86!
Going to Adult Night
i ont have man SPECIFIC MEMORIES – THOUGH i ENJOYED GOING FOR SCHOOL FEIL TRIPS — I do remember they ha a bicycle video game, where you had to pedal this stationary bike to ‘race’ through a virtual world… the irony about it was that sedentary video game loving kids, weren’t getting up and active, but somehow the fact of having them on a video game made it appealing – NO ONE of us kids understood the irony at the time …. the parents thought it was hilarious when My chubby brother got up and started sweating 🙂 (he was having a blast!!!)

I remember the ball that you put your hand on and all the electrocity came to the one spot, amd also the room with the bugs/bees/puzzles lol so specific
Definitely the chemistry show. Our son can watch that over and over. Sometimes he hides his face and covers his ears for the end but it always makes him laugh. As he put it ‘Science is great.’

The look of sheer joy when my son plays with some of his favourite exhibits.
The one and only time I went to Science World was at Expo ’86.
I loved playing the mind ball game as a kid
Went there as a child during a class trip. The best part was the giant piano that had keys you would step on to hear the notes. I’ve always wanted to go back to see how different it is now.
School field trip in Grade 5. Learning about science and then actually seeing it in action was amazing.
talking in to those big megaphone type things and hearing the echo! so cool.
Ive never been to science world, but sounds like a pretty awesome place, would love to takee my daughter there
