With December in our house it usually brings a flurry of family breakfasts, on the fly lunches and the inevitable baking for a small army. It’s rare to discover our oven actually OFF in December, I’m usually puttering in the kitchen doing something. With 4 preschool teachers and a strong start teaching this year as well as 5 holiday parties I have been getting my serious bake on at my house, and full disclosure – I use a Pam a LOT to make sure my hard work actually pops out of the pan without me cursing a little bit!
Lucky for me, Pam has just introduced a brand new formula that boasts 97% less residue left behind on your pans. Residue? Why is this a big deal? I’m sure any number of us have baking pans in our cupboards right now that are discoloured and yet we can’t figure out WHY? We scrub the heck out of them after they come out of the dishwasher still looking the same and yet, that sticky residue persists! With a non-stick pan, it’s nice to just be able to give it a quick rinse before needing to re-use it for the next batch of cookies or eggs but no one wants to re-use a pan with residue left behind.
Admittedly, I am a frugal person.. I’ve been tempted a few times to grab a cheaper cooking spray brand off the shelf and when I was given the opportunity to test out my usual Pam against a competitors brand I was excited to see if there actually would be a difference.
Suffice to say… I’m sticking with my Pam No Residue.
I tested out our sprays against a meal that is cooked in our house pretty much 5-6 times a week of some sort, we absolutely love our eggs in my house, scrambled, over easy and sunny side up. Using a cooking spray guarantees that our eggs are going to come out of the pan perfectly – each time!
I immediately noticed a difference between the sprays in the pans – as you can see Pam sprayed on relatively clear where as the other brand didn’t spray clear and the hotter the pans got the darker that right pan got – I could see the residue just clinging to my pan!
As soon as I cracked an egg into the Pam pan, I could see that as I moved it around there was no spray left underneath it and my egg was sliding perfectly (and deliciously) around the pan without me needing to concentrate it on any specific area with spray still on it. I was super impressed!
When I cracked an egg into the Competitor’s Brand pan I could immediately see the brown sticky residue attaching to both the food AND the pan, even when I moved the egg the spray was left underneath and that is eventually what ends up cooking to your pans – and staying there!
When I was all done cooking I did what I would normally do – I rinsed them out. As you can tell from the photos Pam rinsed completely clean with one run under the tap, whereas the competitiors brand left behind a sticky brown residue that when left on my pans eventually glues to them – yuck!
We’ve used the Pam No Residue a few times since I started this review and each time I have been even more impressed. It really does deliver on it’s claims of leaving 97% less residue behind than margarine or bargain-brand cooking sprays. You can choose from Original no-stick spray for your everyday uses, or pick up the baking cooking spray to make sure those Christmas cookies and muffins pop right out, and if you’re a pancake or waffle fan like we are.. grab the Butter flavour spray and add a boost of flavour to your meals.

We don’t normally use Pam but this sure makes me want to give it a try! My husband loves his eggs and I love to bake so this looks perfect for us!
I’ve always used PAM, never anything else. It’s also good for a lot of other things around the house!

I use pam spray for everything. I started using it when I wanted to reduce the amount of oil I used when cooking. It’s also helpful for quickly greasing pans for baking.
I thought the brown stuff on the pans meant that I wasn’t cleaning them well enough. I didn’t realize it could be from an inferior product! Thank you.
Interesting. I quit using sprays a while back due to the ‘yuck’ remaining, but I had been purchasing a cheaper product!

I love Pam, its great quickly greasing pans for baking. And of course frying my breakfast egg.
I like using Pam but had no idea there were that many good reasons to use it rather than an other brand.I will definitely be sticking to this one.

I agree that PAM is superior – I tried another brand once and it left the brown residue on my pans.
I am not a user of spray oils but if I were I would choose Pam

PAM is used daily in our kitchen…It has helped me reduce to fat content in my cooking.
I totally need to start using Pam!! dont know why i have never bought it but it is really something i need and would use it daily
