Any parent knows, the challenge to keep kids entertained is a never ending battle. Five seconds into playing with their toys and they’re suddenly bored of everything in front of them and begging for you to somehow entertain them. While this is all and well.. sometimes mom and dad just need a bit of a breather – a chance to chat with some other adults and know that your kiddo is safe, contained and having a blast!
Enter Fiona’s Playdate Cafe, I’ve been dying to check out this location for awhile but with it being in Langley it isn’t an everyday trip for us. I discovered pretty quickly that Fiona’s LOVES putting on parties and events, so when I saw that the ever famous Elsa would be making an appearance I knew I had to get Livvy & her cousin signed up for a chance to play with her.
Our goal is to provide families with a SAFE, CLEAN environment for children to learn and grow! To help them develop life skills through play, and allow caregivers to soak up as much quality time as possible with those constantly growing bundles of energy! – Fiona’s Playdate Cafe
When we first arrived, Alivia was in awe of all the fun decorations to welcome Queen Elsa, from the snowflake backdrop, to the matching goodie bags and of course the GIANT pile of balloons above her, she was ready to play! She gravitated to the Frozen dollhouse and spent a better part of her time bouncing between playing Frozen and climbing all over the play structures.
Alivia and her cousin were at the tail end of the age group for Fiona’s, I would say that it’s perfect for kids aged 0-5 as much of the toys need to be on the larger size to alleviate any choking hazards with the littles. The kids had no problem with the toys though and ran around playing with everything, riding the cars and challenging each other to jump!
This was our first event at Fiona’s Playdate Cafe, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. We knew Queen Elsa would be attending, there would be a treat and a goodie bag, but what else? Each child had some one on one time with the Queen (who was incredibly kind and sweet!) as well as a professional photo taken by Jodie Hadden Photography, Queen Elsa also spent her entire visit interacting and playing with all of the kids – the look in their eyes was priceless!
Once every kid had their fill of time with Queen Elsa, they moved on to decorating a delicious frozen inspired cupcake, complete with their own pot of icing and sprinkles! Nothing says fun quite like cupcakes, amiright? Once the kids were good and sugared up, they moved on to release the balloons! This is hands down one of our favourite things during the event, kids and balloons make for endless laughs! Once the cascade of balloons fell, Queen Elsa made her exit and the kids had time to continue playing and throwing around balloons.
This is of course just a re-cap of our event, and Fiona’s Playdate Cafe does more than just Princess Playdates! They also offer different character playdates, movie nights, kindermuzik and so much more. For a full list of their upcoming events, make sure to visit their Facebook Events Page! Each event offers different activities, so make sure to take a peek through the list! I think we’ll be visiting for a Paw Patrol one next! Oh, and don’t forget! You are encouraged to dress up for your event so perfect time to dust off those dress up clothes.
Just interested in visiting? Rates for drop-in are pretty reasonable, and include playtime!
All in all, we had a lot of fun at Fiona’s Playdate Cafe, while they have a strict no outside food policy I was pleasantly surprised to find that their cafe is well stocked with healthy snacks, some small treats and plenty of beverages for both mom & tot. With the seating area located central in the play area, you can comfortably enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and have a chance to relax – total win!
