2019 has been a YEAR already! I have been crazy busy at my day job, Alivia has had a ton of events and activities and this blog has kept me on my toes. There’s been a lot of running home, dropping things on the kitchen table and heading straight to bed. Unfortunately, that meant that my house was suffering, like *really* suffering. We had time to keep on top of the usual stuff. Laundry, dishes, sweeping and vacuuming, but the deep cleaning was put to the wayside.
And I HATED it. And I felt guilty. And I felt like a bit of a failure. And And And. Mom guilt was REAL around here.
I’m a clean freak by nature, but when it came down to the nitty gritty I just haven’t had time lately and it was starting to wear on me a lot. Full disclosure, I live in a tiny 2 bedroom suite in an older house. I didn’t want to let them leave.
Scheduling our cleaning was super easy, fill out the estimate page with how big your home is, what extras you’d like cleaned (highly recommend the fridge and stove clean!) and what day/time works best for you and the team confirms your request pretty quickly. After we filled everything in, we had a time/day within 2 days and I started to get a little bit excited. I pre-cleaned a little bit before the team showed up, making sure that surfaces were cleared and items picked up off the floor so they could really get in a do a deep clean. It’s not a necessary step but I felt like it gave the team more time to get to the stuff I really haven’t had time to do.
When our team arrived I was amazed to find a team of 4 amazing women who immediately asked what my priorities were, I mentioned that dusting + the cobwebs in a couple of corners bothered me the most and off they went. One cleaner tackled my kitchen and I may have cringed a bit at how long she spent cleaning my stove, but when she was done it SPARKLED. She cleaned parts of my stove that I can’t remember the last time I got to them. I may have yelled at hubby to clean it up every time he uses it because she made it look that good!
Another cleaner tackled the bedrooms, dusting, and fluffing and wiping everything down. She even wiped down the walls which I honestly can’t remember the last time I also did this! We do live in a small home so we make do with storage solutions, we do have a couple of small shelves around and the AspenClean team was amazing at making sure that they gently moved and replaced items as they cleaned around them. Once they were done tidying the rooms it was on to vacuuming, sweeping and mopping. 3 things I never get to do on the same day, ever.
I was so impressed with how seamlessly they worked as a team. Each woman had a focus an eventually they came together to do the final things as a team. I was worried it would feel a bit awkward being home with them running around but honestly, they made me feel completely at home (hah, pun intended) and told me a little bit about themselves as we crossed paths throughout the house.
Definitely one of the heroes of the entire visit was the AspenClean products themselves. We’ve shared a bit about how we are an asthma household so scents and products that we use in our home absolutely matter as they can trigger an asthma attack in our kiddo. The cleaners were at my house for just over 2 hours all together and I tried to pay close attention to how they were using the products, I didn’t notice a ton of “elbow grease” needing to be used and the products tackled most of the dirt and grime without needing to go scrub crazy. Though, for the super tough jobs, I did see them pull out the SuperScrub Powder who seems to be the superhero of the day in my kitchen.
Once the flurry of cleaning started to slow down the cleaners meticulously packed up all of the cloths and products they used and I notice a distinctly clean smell throughout my house. My bathroom was shining, Alivia’s shelves had been tidied (even putting some “special” treasures on display), my windows were sparkling and most importantly my asthma did NOT show up to say hello like it usually does with a full day of cleaning with chemical cleaners.

AspenClean clean estimates factor in that the entire team is carefully trained, bonded and insured when they enter your home. Having seen them in action I definitely feel the price was worth it, though it may not be something that I could regularly consider based on budget. I am definitely already planning to have them come back in a couple of months to do a Spring Clean (perfect for allergy and asthma sufferers!) & deep clean and help me keep on top of the things we were letting slide. In the meantime, I can use the AspenClean eco-friendly products around my home and still enjoy the safe, healthy and *clean* home feel.
