Be still my Lego loving heart, when I heard that BrickCan was coming to Vancouver I will openly admit I might have squealed a little bit! I have been a Lego lover for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories of a giant rubbermaid full of a mish-mash of different lego pieces and spending hours building cities, skyscrapers and pretty much everything in between. When I had Alivia, I knew one of the things that would quickly become a staple in our house – was of course Lego!
Lego encourages fine motor skills, problem solving, imagination and of course, it helps develop a “Maker” mentality. Be it an engineer, an architect, children see their vision long before those pieces come together.
BrickCan – BC’s first major Adult LEGO® Fan Convention, and the largest Public LEGO® Exhibition ever staged in BC – will take place April 21-24, 2016 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC, LEGO fans of all ages are invited to come and experience 11,000 square feet of displays that are sure to amaze even the biggest (and oldest!) LEGO fans!
Hundreds of Adult LEGO Fans from Canada, the United States, and even from overseas will travel to Richmond for the first major LEGO Fan convention ever to be held in BC. These enthusiasts have spent countless hours building amazing LEGO creations that will be on public display. Tickets for specific viewing times are available through Ticketmaster.
In addition to the marveling at the hundreds of amazing creations on display, ticketholders will be able browse “Vendor Alley” and purchase rare or custom building kits, unique accessories, cool T-shirts, jewelry, artwork, books, and more. Then there’s the “Creation Station”, where kids can try some building of their own and participate in other interactive, hands-on activities. Ticketholders aged 12 and under will also receive an exclusive, custom-designed building kit to take home.
All three regional adult LEGO clubs are joining together to support BrickCan and create a spectacular event: the Vancouver LEGO Club (VLC), the Abbotsford LEGO Users Group (AbbyLUG), and the Victoria LEGO Users Group (VicLUG).
