Everyone knows the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but what about life after their journey together? Alivia is always excited when new movies arrive, we always make sure to set aside time to watch them all as a family. As we’re already huge fans of the Snow White tale, we were so excited to hear a different tale with Princess Rose (Sleeping Beauty) being the star!
Join all seven dwarfs for an adventure as big as they are small! It’s the eve of Princess Rose’s 18th birthday. Everyone in the kingdom has come to Fantabularasa Castle to celebrate including Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. But just before the stroke of midnight Bobo, the youngest dwarf, accidentally pricks the finger of Princess Rose (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty) with a cursed needle and sends the kingdom into a century-long slumber! To find Rose’s true love Jack to save her with a kiss, Bobo and the other six dwarfs must go on a treacherous journey, face a fiery dragon and outwit the jealous, scheming and evil witch, Dellamorta!
Alivia fell in love with Princess Rose almost immediately, the story is sweet and easy to follow for even the younger crowd. We sat through the entire movie laughing every time the Dwarves did something silly. We found it a great chance to chat about acceptance and understand throughout the movie – who doesn’t love a movie that offers a supportive message!?
All in all, The Seventh Dwarf is a very sweet movie and will likely make an appearance again on movie night. I can’t share too much more without ruining the story but it definitely a family friendly, age appropriate tale with lots of action, lots of laughs, fun music and a great mashup of classic fairytale characters that you already know and love. This family classic is available digitally on iTunes or on DVD and via a two-disc Blu-ray 3D combo pack (with a 2D Blu-ray, a DVD and a digital copy).
