Summer time calls for street parties – and lots of them! If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend you can head over to the Khatsahlano Street Party for some fun, free activities, live music and of course, good eats! There’s a couple of our favourite folks at this event, including some serious bragging rights with the largest bean bag in the world!
Created with love in 2011 by the members of the Kitsilano West 4th Avenue Business Association, Khatsahlano, features multiple stages showcasing more than 50 of Vancouver’s top musical performers as well as the eclectic work of local artisans and street performers. This 10-block street fair, spanning from Burrard to MacDonald Street also features a wide variety of food options, bustling patios, giveaways, special activities, and licensed beer gardens!
Bring the family down to Trafalgar Street for #KhatsKids, the kiddos will have a blast enjoying performances by one of our local faves Will Stroet (12:30), Rockin’ Robin (11:30 & 2:45) and Canned Hamm(4:15). There’s also lots of activities to keep the littles entertained from story time with Hip Baby and the Drama Bugs, painting bird houses crafted by seniors for the Kits Neighbourhood House, chalk art, face-painting, balloons, drums and a craft corner. Oh, and let’s not forget where you’ll find us…
If you’ve followed us on social media, you’ll probably remember that I have the child that gravitates to the Yogibo Canada bean bags at every event we are at, it’s hard not too though. These innovative bean bags are stylish, comfortable and perfect for everyday use – gone are the days of the giant round 70’s bean bags, you can now fill your house with bean bags that double as upright chairs, couches and more! Helisa and I have been known to take a breather at tradeshows in these bad boys, so we’re kind of excited to see just how big the largest bean bag in the world actually is!
Interested in checking them out? You’ll have a chance at the Khatsahlano Street Party! The world’s largest bean bag will take centre stage at the West 4th Avenue Khatsahlano Street Party on July 9, 2016, courtesy of luxury international boutique retailer Yogibo Canada. The 210-foot long champion weighs more than 1,700 lbs, and was made by Yogibo in October 2015. Yogibo Canada will accept donations to the Canucks Autism Network and attendees can take the Yogibo Challenge for a chance to win prizes. How cool is the process of actually assembling this bad boy? I wonder how many kids could lie on it at once end to end…
